Journey with me into my work life in hospitality

Image
I have come again with yet another inspiration to share an authentic version of myself in my day to day life. If you have met me in person or for those that know me, you have probably experienced a version of me that is dedicated to the work i do. I have over the time encountered a number of experiences that have slowly fruited into a desire to tell you about my work, my challenges, my wins and some of the solutions that i have adapted to survive through the times.  So who am I? I am not my job but my job does reflect some bits of me. I love my job and there is so much that I learn from it daily. I have worked in the hospitality industry for sometime now and i could comfortably say that on a scale of 1-10, I think am at 7 in growth. It is a sector where you encounter people daily and will be challenged to handle all situations you encounter with a unique approach. When I say this, I am referring to customers, employers and employees. Most of what I will share will be an accumulatio...

JUST A SNAP!

Image
Within the snap of a finger, the time has gone as fast as it comes. I never knew I would ever wish for days not to go by as fast. The sun kisses the sky and dives back into the ground every single day. The rains touch the earth and jump back into their hiding place. I wish I knew how to negotiate with each day but I guess that is just the way it is. I’m reminded of a scripture:  There is  a time  for  everything  and a season for every activity under the heavens:  Ecclesiastes 3:15. Life has crafted itself into a garden before me. The weeds and the fruits all seat together but I know one thing for sure; there is something good to pick out. On some days, it’s barely a good fruit but I must find the courage to wait on the good fruit.  Faith calls out my name daily but I seem to stray on. Love embraces me but sometimes I feel alone and I almost don’t recognize her.  Where is Heaven when I need to simply disappear? ...

Seated here on this mat .....

Image
To our graduates, it’s such a coincidence that all this happens during a season of the current fever of the 10year challenge. I haven’t really been part of it but I have enjoyed the extreme contrasts for some of our social media family members. So why am I bringing this up, let’s just say you need to know what’s on the other side. While you were in that class, perhaps your fantasies make your ten years later look rosy. No one should stop you from  dreaming. If you didn’t paint your fantasies with possibilities, it is not too late to actually fasten your seatbelt and face the reality of life after graduation. Be a pacesetter, be a go-getter, face your battles with creativity and trust me you could swim through. Way back in my home, we used to sit on the mat... it was five of us. When we got our first dining table, it was a set of four chairs. You can only imagine the protocol that followed to sit on the famous stool and coffee table to eat a meal when away from the main table. So...

Life in color♥️πŸ’•πŸŒˆ

Image
Not so long ago, I informed a friend that life without color for a lady is plain. He seemed not to see it that way. Perhaps not every lady. The era of makeup does throw a bit of light onto that statement.  We choose how we want to see life. For some of you, if the music stops playing, then your rhythm will stop while for someone else they still have a continued rhythm even without a sound. It is how I visualize life in my head without the actual crayons. I have attended events that have allowed me to experience variations in choices of color and artistry. You can tell the character of a person by what they surround themselves with. For my case, I love a good quality book for a journal with pages that will keep me writing. I enjoy the feel of a good pen as I write my thoughts. Such is the same with life, surround yourself with what articulates your personality. Hang with friends that add impact to you, people that won't judge you when you chose to dance naked in the rain. Sit wi...

Your Appeal

Image
Hello! Anyone!? Are you there? Come and lets share our random thoughts. So how about we talk about perception and how people make conclusion of who you really are. After a long time now, I have gradually come to understand we are surrounded by people with different personalities. Do not spend your life expecting everyone to see life the way you see it. Let us start by saying you always need to be able to present yourself in a way that appeals to many. However, you need to understand that when I say appeal, I’m referring to the different ways you need to present yourself. There is that office appeal, there is the home appeal, and there is the social circle appeal, the church, the international and so forth. You don’t have to pull off an act everyday just so you can fit into your circles. The second you start your conversation, people are watching you and listening carefully for what is coming out of you. Now for people like me, I will probably listen more to get...

The Journey

Image
I don’t know where I’m going but one thing I am sure of is I know where I have come from. The discussion of clear destiny is not an easy one for all and quite often it can be a puzzle especially as you try to figure out where exactly you are headed in life. Here is the point I am getting to, where you come from will often prepare you for where you are headed. Life experiences teach each one of us a lot. We either learn to adapt, adopt, adhere or embrace or better toughen up for what is ahead of us. A friend I have known for a long time has gone through some of the toughest life situations but she has come out strong. It is not so much the tears that she cried but the strength she gathered to face another day with courage. Each single time she has been torn apart by the problems surrounding her life, I have imagined she is giving up but no she has not. Aaaw, how I admire her! I am very proud of her and God has taught me much through her. Like the bible says, “Therefore do...

Be a Free spirit

Image
How often do you get out there and just be the person that people don’t often see? Do you ever let anyone meet that person you always rehearse when you are on your own? I know it might not be easy for some people but let me confess that I have recently realized the joy in just being you. The moment when you play like never before, joke and laugh away, dance and don’t care who is watching. It is totally refreshing to be that person. Very often this is evident in children. So because you are growing up, you tend to drop certain childhood tendencies for reasons best known to you. You discover that you are only avoiding wrong judgment. Our true self is who we really are at the point that we let go of all the stories, labels, and judgments that we have placed upon ourselves. It is who we naturally are without the masks that people have often seen. Today I am going to remind you that your inner joy comes from being you. It is nurtured when you let your spirit free. It is...
